AS I HAVE LOVED YOU. Order No. 47. Among other things, Father explains very well about Fraternal Charity; the power of the tongue –
BIBLICAL TREASURY OF THE CATECHISM. Order No. 61. This book is divided into thirty-
CATECHISM OF THE COUNCIL OF TRENT: All those who had part in the work of the Catechism were instructed to avoid in his composition the particular opinions of individuals and schools, and to express the doctrine of the universal Church, keeping especially in mind the decrees of the Council of Trent. On November 2, 1563 the Council of Trent enjoined on all bishops to see that the Catechism should be faithfully expounded to the people by all parish priests. January 17, 1566 Pope Saint Pius V succeeded Pope Pius IV. One of the first acts of the new Pontiff was to point a number of expert theological revisors to examine every statement in the Catechism from the viewpoint of doctrine.
This Catechism is unlike any other summary of Christian doctrine, it enjoys a unique authority among manuals. It was issued by the express command of the Ecumenical Council of Trent. It subsequently received the unqualified approval of many Sovereign Pontiffs. In his Bull of June 14, 1761, Pope Clement XIII said that the Catechism contains a clear explanation of all that is necessary for salvation and useful for the faithful, that it was composed with great care and industry and has been highly praised by all, that by it in former times the faith was strengthened, and that no other catechism can be compared with it. He concluded than, that the Roman Pontiffs offered this work to pastors as a norm of Catholic teaching and discipline so that there might be uniformity and harmony in the instructions of all.
Pope Leo XIII wrote that, “This work is remarkable at once for the richness and exactness of its doctrine, and for the eloquence of its style; it is a precious summary of all theology, both dogmatic and moral. He who understand it well, will have always at his service those aids by which a priest is enabled to preach with fruit, to acquit himself worthily of the important ministry of the confessional and of the direction of souls, and will be in a position to refute the objections of unbelievers.” Pope Saint Pius X declared that pastors should give catechetical instructions, and for this purpose they should use the Catechism of the Council of Trent.
In addition to Popes and Councils, many Cardinals, Bishops, and other very distinguished and learned ecclesiastics, distinguished for their learning and sanctity, vied with one another in eulogizing the Catechism of Trent. Among other things they have said that not since the days of the Apostles has there been produced in a single volume so complete and practical a summary of Christian doctrine as this Catechism, and that, after the Sacred Scriptures, there is no work that can be read with greater safety and profit.
Cardinal Valerius, the friend of St. Charles Borromeo, wrote of the Catechism: “This work contains all that is needful for the instruction of the faithful; and it is written with such order, clearness, and majesty that through it we seem to hear holy Mother the Church herself, taught by the Holy Ghost, speaking to us. … It was composed by order of the Fathers of Trent under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, and was published by the authority of the Vicar of Christ.”
Salmanticenses, the great Carmelite commentators on St. Thomas, paid the following high tribute to the Catechism: “The authority of this Catechism has always been of the greatest in the Church, because it was composed by the command of the Council of Trent, because its authors were men of highest learning, and because it was approved only after the severest scrutiny by Popes Pius V and Gregory the XIII, and has been recommended in nearly all the Council that have been held since the Council of Trent.”
The preceptor of St. Francis de Sales said: “The Catechism of the Council of Trent was inspired by the Holy Ghost.” Dr. John Hagan, Rector of the Irish College in Rome, writes thus: “The Roman Catechism is a work of exceptional authority. At the very least it has the same authority as a dogmatic encyclical, it is an authoritative exposition of Catholic doctrine given forth, and guaranteed to be orthodox by the Catholic Church and her supreme head on earth. The compilation of it was the work of various individuals; but the result of their combined labors was accepted by the Church as a precious abridgment of dogmatic and moral theology. All official documents have occasionally been issued by Popes to explain certain points of Catholic teaching to individuals, or to local Christian communities; whereas the Roman Catechism comprises practically the whole body of Christian doctrine, and is addressed to the whole Church. Its teaching is not infallible; but it holds a place between approved catechisms and what is de fide.”
Translated into English with notes by Fr. John A. McHugh and Fr. Charles J. Callan. Imprimatur 1923. Seventeen Tapes read by AM.
Further comments by Patrick Henry: Reflect seriously how Pope St. Pius V appointed expert theological revisors to examine every statement in the Catechism from the viewpoint of doctrine. Consider that this Catechism was 1) Approved only after the severest scrutiny by Saint Pope Pius V and Pope Gregory the XIII. 2) Approved and guaranteed to be orthodox by the Catholic Church. How is it possible for a Catholic to convince himself that this Catechism of the Council of Trent contains heresy? There is no Pope, Doctor of the Church, or canonized saint that made the statement that this Catechism has heresy in it. Nevertheless, there are many today who do not accept as being true Catholic doctrine what this Catechism teaches.
Notice also that Saint Pope Pius V approved and commanded this Catechism to be published in 1566. How do those who teach that this Catechism teaches heresy exempt Saint Pope Pius V from being an anti-

The most popular of all Father Raoul Plus’ numerous books, and translated into a dozen languages, God Within Us explains in layman’s language the ineffable mystery of God’s presence within us through sanctifying grace and the indwelling of the Holy Trinity. THE GREAT MEANS OF SALVATION AND PERFECTION. Order No. 2. St. Alphonsus Maria Liguori says: “This book, though small, has cost me a great deal of labor. I regard it as of extreme utility to all sorts of persons; and I unhesitatingly assert that among all spiritual treatises, there is none, and there can be none, more necessary than that which treats on prayer as a means of obtaining eternal salvation. I do not think that I have written a more useful work than the present, in which I speak of prayer as a necessary and certain means of obtaining salvation, and all the graces that we require for that object. If it were in my power, I would distribute a copy of it to every Catholic in the world, in order to show him the absolute necessity of prayer for salvation.” Will you help distribute this book, now on tapes, to every Catholic? Pope Pius XI says: “Sanctity of life is not the privilege of a few to the exclusion of others but all are called to sanctity.” Hear these tapes and learn what it really means to be God’s child. To take up the yoke of Christ is all that God asks as the condition of sharing His eternal bliss, and of finding present peace. Imprimatur 1937. THE OLD TESTAMENT. (Douay Rheims) Order No. 6. “The dignity of the Scriptures is such that having for Author God Himself, they contain His most exalted mysteries, designs, and works. OUR GREATEST TREASURE. (The True Faith). Order No. 29. Father John Kearney explains in an exceptionally lucid, clear-
PATHWAYS TO PEACE. This booklet explains in a very important way what the angels meant when they sang: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men of goodwill.” The second part sums up the reason why Jesus came to earth – to bring peace to men of goodwill. I found this booklet very interesting, well explained, and consoling. Nothing should take away our peace! It explains why every cross, contradiction, and trial in our lives should bring us real peace – if only we understand it. During this past year millions of people on earth, and a good number of those whom I know personally, have lost their beloved spouse, or parents, or their children. Others have lost their good name and reputation, their jobs, or seemingly lost a lot in a court case. Others have had their property stolen, or those who owe them money refused to pay, or suffered under great financial losses. Others that we all know are suffering from health issues and other pains and sorrows.
Oh! If all these people only understood the message of the angels on Christmas night: PEACE to men of goodwill – how differently they would gain eternal merit and increase in sanctifying grace from their trials. There is nothing that can happen to us that should take away our PEACE! If only we lived by faith, hope, and charity; we would have PEACE no matter what the trials and crosses that God sends us – no matter what happens to us during our entire life! In some ways it seems quite sad that even Catholics do not understand what they need to do to have PEACE – regardless of the circumstances in their life! The booklet has a Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur; and copyright, 1946. Second edition, October, 1950. One MP3 file read by PH. 1A

Michael Mueller explains: Why is it that many are good, and others are bad; that many follow God, and are saved, and others do not follow Him and are dammed? The important truth is, that according to the ordinary course of Divine Providence, man cannot be saved without prayer. All who apply the message on these tapes will pray much more, save their souls, and obtain a very much higher place in Heaven for eternity. PREPARATION FOR DEATH. Order No. 65. Pope Gregory XVI stated “…there is nothing worthy of censure,…The opinions of St. Alphonsus may be followed in the pulpit as well as in the confessional, even if one has not maturely examined the reasons upon which the opinions are founded, provided only that one does not regard it as a reproach to those who follow the opinions of other approved authors.” Pope Pius IX declared St. Alphonsus Maria a Doctor of the Church. He also wrote, “We greatly commend your pius undertaking, and we encourage you to continue with still grater diligence in endeavoring to spread the most wholesome writings of St. Alphonsus every day more and more. To read them cannot but be of the greatest advantage, not only to Christians in general, but also to ecclesiastics, and to those especially who have the care and the directions of souls.” Eleven Tapes read by AM. 1A 1B 2A 2B 3A 3B 4A 4B 5A 5B 6A 6B 7A 7B 8A 8B 9A 9B 10A 10B 11A 11B

These books of THE SUNDAY SERMONS OF THE GREAT FATHERS were received from the kindness, generosity, and charity of a lady named Joan. If it was in my power I would require you to pray a very fervent prayer for her every time you listen to one of these MP3 files. If it was not for her charity, we would probably not have these important books on tapes and herein converted to MP3 files. Also, please do not neglect to pray for the repose of the soul of my friend Al who read these books onto tape.
SUNDAY SERMONS OF THE GREAT FATHERS, The: Order No. 10. This work contains what is in effect the spiritual inheritance of every Christian. The four volumes together give, Sunday by Sunday and for the greater festivals and fasts, selected sermons of the great Fathers and Doctors of the Church. In the framing of the great corpus of Catholic doctrine and theology, the authority and the influence of the Fathers are secondary only to those of the Apostles and evangelists themselves. To one we owe the true interpretation of facts or phrases, to another the unfolding of a doctrine out of a single word; to all to them the handling on and enrichment of a tradition that runs back to the foundation of the Church. Their homilies on the liturgical Gospels for Sundays and the greater feasts and fasts cannot fail to add clarity and depth to any reader’s understanding of these key passages from Holy Scripture. This treasury of their commentaries will above all be of constant help to priest whose office it is to preach and expound the Gospel in the continuance of the tradition. An especially valuable point is the inclusion, after the text of each Gospel reading, of the relevant passage of the Catena Aurea, the great commentary on the Gospels compiled by St. Thomas Aquinas from the writings of all the Fathers and Doctors of the Church. This has not until now been available in English. To impress on us how important are these Sermons of The Great Fathers, the Catholic Church includes parts of them daily in Her Liturgy. Imprimatur 1955. Sixty Nine Tapes read by AM.

I have carefully arranged that it shall be read throughout our Society, as the universal remedy for all feeble ones, the goad of slothful ones, the stimulus of love, and the ladder of those who are tending to perfection. Oh! that all would study it as it deserves! There should be no one to escape its heat.” (Words of St. Vincent De Paul, for this book written by St. Francis De Sales.) Imprimatur 1923. TRUE DEVOTION TO MARY. Order No. 36. “Jesus is obscured because Mary is kept in the background. Thousands of souls perish because Mary is withheld from them. I cannot think of a higher work or a broader vocation for anyone than the simple spreading of this peculiar devotion of the Venerable Grignion De Montfort.” (From Fr. Faber’s preface to this great book by St. Louis Marie De Montfort.) Imprimatur. 1949. Four Tapes read by AM. 1A 1B 2A 2B 3A 3B 4A 4B

All men, whether sinners or saints, in whatever circle of society they are to be found, as in whatever stage of the spiritual life they may have reached, have a need of TRUST as immense as their immense necessities.
