Please read the object of the procession below and I know that you will agree that this surely is the time to beg for God's wrath to be appeased.  Pray the Litany of the Saints.

The Rogation Days:

In consequence of the public calamities that afflicted the Diocese of Vienne in Dauphiny in the Vth century, St. Marmertus instituted a solemn penitential procession on the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday before the Feast of the Ascension.

In 816 Pope Leo III introduced it in Rome and soon after it became a general observance throughout the Church. The Litany of the Saints, the psalms and the collects sung in procession on these days are supplications; hence the term Rogation is applied to them.

The object of these devotions is to appease the wrath of Almighty God, to avert the chastisements which the sins of the world so justly deserve and to draw down His blessings on the fruits of the earth.

Violet is used as a token of penance and the Paschal candle is left unlighted.

Dom Gueranger tells us: "We need so many graces and we do so little penance!"

The Litany of the Saints is one of the most efficacious of prayers.  Those who are prevented from assisting at the procession, should recite the litany in union with the Church; they thus will share in the graces attached to the Rogation days.

Please join in saying the Litany of the Saints and uniting your intentions with the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.
